ENERGY - AN INDISPENSABLE RESOURCE FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND SUCCESS
It is here, there, and everywhere. It exists in our operations, our businesses, and even within us, and it is up to us how we use it. It cannot be destroyed, only transformed, and its name has an origin that means work. A quantity that expresses something with the potential to move or displace. A movement we live in and with, and which we have the opportunity to influence. Sometimes we feel like we have more, sometimes less. And it is of utmost importance for us to reach our goals – we are talking about energy.
Never wasting our own or the world’s resources is a clear guiding principle at Stena, which create sustainability and success in results. For our customers, for society, and for ourselves. But it requires that we generate, store, and most
importantly, use our energy in best possible way. In production, in service delivery, and in our daily work. Being able to provide service, at reduced energy use while maintaining quality, is a winner, always. To achieve this, knowledge, clear priorities, and strong execution are required.
There are many different forms of energy, whereby the choice of energy carrier and efficient energy transfer is of great importance. Updated regulations are important for driving societal change, but we should not underestimate the power of entrepreneurship, business development, and focused work. The laws of physics are however constant, and we need to ensure that we use them to our advantage. Electrification of short-sea shipping is logical since the losses in the energy system are small. Transitioning deep-sea shipping is more challenging and will take time, but there is still great potential for improvement in the short term with the help of new technology and AI for energy optimization, based on the choice of route and voyage execution.
Our curiosity drives us forward towards new discoveries and opportunities. But we must have the courage and strength to take it all the way. The size of the challenge we undertake, multiplied by the energy we apply, gives us our rate of development. Applicable both in business and personal development.
How do you replenish new knowledge and energy? Do you seek broader or deeper, through conversation and information? What gives you energy, and most importantly, how do you give energy to others?
It is here, there, and everywhere. Don’t take it for granted and make sure it is used and shared, with great care.
