THE SENSE OF SECURITY INCREASES AMONG TENANTS IN

LINDÄNGEN AND HERMODSDAL

Although the Lindängen and Hermodsdal neighbourhood in Malmö has been affected by unrest and several acts of violence in the past year, the sense of security among tenants of Stena Fastigheter is increasing according to the latest tenant survey.

Stena Fastigheter has owned 1,200 apartments in Lindängen and Hermodsdal for the past 25 and 20 years, respectively. In the latest tenant survey conducted by AktivBo, a clear improvement in the results can be seen, both for security and well-being for residents in the neighbourhood. The security index has increased by as much as 6 percentage points since the last survey conducted in 2017. The tenants’ sense of well-being in their blocks and neighbourhood has also increased significantly by 15 percentage points compared to the 2017 survey.

“We’ve been focusing on capturing the views of our tenants,” says Malmö district manager Jonas Santonsson. “After the last customer survey, we spent many evenings visiting our properties to follow up on the situation and deepen our conversations with our tenants. Those of us working here also participate in security walks during the evenings, and if something extra-ordinary should happen, we have an organisation that can quickly call in tenants and other collaborative partners.”

At the same time, efforts have been made to create an even more pleasant and safer outdoor environment. At Lindängen, for example, new lighting has been installed and active environments for all ages have been created, including a fenced ball arena, outdoor gym, new playgrounds and meeting places where people of different ages can sit and socialise.

“Through our efforts, I hope and believe that our tenants have gained a closer relationship with us, and that they can more easily recognise me, our administrators and our caretakers,” says Jonas Santonsson. “It’s all about relationships.”⁄
